About Patrick

A straight-shooter in an industry that desperately needs one.

Health insurance shouldn't feel like reading a foreign language in the dark. After watching too many friends and family members get burned by plans they didn't understand, I got licensed and decided to do this differently — one honest conversation at a time.

I work with self-employed pros, 1099 contractors, families between jobs, and early retirees across 31 states. Whether you need full PPO coverage, a bridge plan between W-2s, or supplemental protection on top of what you already have, I'll walk you through what's actually out there — not just what pays me the most.

No high-pressure scripts. No bait-and-switch quotes. Just a real conversation, real numbers, and a plan that makes sense for where you are right now.

Common Questions

Real questions, plain-English answers.

How much does it cost to work with you?
Nothing. Zero. I'm paid directly by the insurance carriers when you enroll in a plan, the same as if you signed up through their website. You pay the same premium either way — the difference is you get a real advocate instead of an 800 number.
I'm self-employed. Do I qualify for anything?
Absolutely — in fact, self-employed pros are most of my book. Depending on your income, you may qualify for marketplace subsidies, but there are also strong private PPO and short-term options that often beat marketplace plans on network size and cost. We'll compare both honestly.
What if I just got laid off?
Losing your job triggers a Special Enrollment Period, which means you can get covered right now — you don't have to wait for open enrollment. Short-term plans can also start coverage in 24 hours if you need an immediate bridge. Call me before you sign up for COBRA; it's almost always cheaper to go private.
Can I keep my doctor?
In most cases, yes. Before we lock in any plan, I'll check whether your specific doctors and preferred hospitals are in-network. This is one of the most important things people get wrong when shopping on their own — we won't make that mistake.
How is private coverage different from the marketplace (Healthcare.gov)?
Marketplace plans are subsidized but often have narrow networks and high deductibles. Private PPO plans skip the subsidies but typically offer broader networks, more carrier choice, and underwriting that can land you a better rate if you're healthy. There's no single right answer — we'll compare apples to apples.
What if I have a pre-existing condition?
ACA-compliant plans (marketplace and many private PPOs) cover pre-existing conditions with no exclusions. Short-term plans handle them differently — we'll talk through your specific situation and steer you toward what actually protects you.
How quickly can coverage start?
Short-term medical can start as soon as the next day. ACA and PPO plans typically start on the 1st of the following month. If you're in a tight spot, we'll find something that gets you covered fast.

Let's find your fit — in 15 minutes or less.

Pick up the phone, send an email, or just text me. No hold music, no robocaller, no pressure to enroll on the first call. Promise.
